Aliv Business Announces Inaugural Cybersecurity Summit

to Strengthen Business Resilience Across The Bahamas

Aliv Business is excited to announce the inaugural Cybersecurity Summit, scheduled for February 20, 2025, at the Atlantis Hotel. The event aims to equip Bahamian businesses, government agencies, and organizations with the knowledge and strategies necessary to counter rising cyber threats and ensure operational continuity through comprehensive redundancy planning.

A key highlight of the summit will be the keynote address from Kemba Eneas Walden, a Bahamian cybersecurity expert and former senior director in the White House. Walden’s experience in both public policy and national security will provide attendees with critical insights into the evolving threat landscape and the importance of preparedness to safeguard vital systems and data.

“The digital landscape is expanding rapidly, but with that comes increased exposure to sophisticated attacks,” said Charnette Thompson, Vice President of Aliv Business for Cable Bahamas Ltd. and Group of Companies. “Our goal is to empower organizations to not only defend against cyber threats but also establish redundancy plans to ensure that, even when incidents occur, their operations remain intact and recover swiftly.”

The summit will bring together a diverse audience, including business owners, IT professionals, policymakers, and public officials, all focused on fortifying their operations against cyber risks. Discussions will address a range of topics, such as:

  • The latest trends in cyber threats and vulnerabilities
  • Best practices for business continuity planning
  • The importance of system redundancy for critical infrastructure
  • Incident response frameworks to mitigate impact

In addition to the keynote, industry experts and thought leaders will deliver presentations and participate in panel discussions. These subject-matter experts will explore practical strategies for detecting, mitigating, and recovering from cyber incidents, offering actionable advice tailored to the needs of small, medium, and large enterprises across The Bahamas.

The event will also provide attendees with opportunities to network, exchange ideas, and explore emerging technologies that can enhance their cyber resilience.

“With cyberattacks becoming increasingly prevalent, resilience must be at the core of every organization’s strategy,” Thompson added. “This summit will provide the tools and insights needed to help our local businesses and institutions thrive in a digital world, no matter what challenges they encounter.”

Registration for the Aliv Business Cybersecurity Summit will open soon, with spaces expected to fill quickly. Leaders from across industries are encouraged to attend and gain valuable knowledge on how to safeguard their operations and plan for the unexpected.
